Vida VX2: Hero MotoCorp’s electric brand Vida has launched its most affordable electric scooter. Called Vida VX2, this scooter offers decent city performance and contemporary features. Its highlight is a reported 142-km full-charge range. Accompanied by a smart battery rental program, VX2 is also expected to draw family buyers in cities.

Battery Rental Program Details

The VX2 is offered with Vida’s Battery as a Service program, or BAAS. In this scheme, customers do not pay the cost of the battery upfront but pay according to its usage per kilometer. Hero will charge 96 paise per kilometer in this model. A major advantage is if the performance of the battery falls below 70%, it will be replaced free of cost. This scheme lowers the VX2 starting price to just ₹59,490, and the entire battery-included price remains at ₹99,490 ex-showroom.

Design and Looks

Vida VX2’s styling is inspired by the Vida Z concept that was shown at EICMA 2024. It looks contemporary and city-oriented with a stress on practical family use. VX2 resembles the Vida V2. Customers will receive seven color options such as Nexus Blue, Matte White, Orange, Matte Lime, Pearl Black, Pearl Red, and Metallic Grey. Metallic Grey and Orange are offered only in the Plus version.

Comfort and Practicality

For commuting riders, VX2 employs 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends. Its suspension configuration features dual telescopic forks at the front and a single adjustable rear monoshock, which makes it well-suited for city speed breakers. In the Plus version, it gets a disc at the front and drum at the back for braking. The Go version employs drum brakes at both ends. VX2 also has under-seat capacity of 27.2 liters in the Plus and 33.2 liters in the Go.

Lighting and Features

The LED headlamp, LED taillamp, and LED DRLs make VX2 look premium. Additional comfort comes with a permanent magnet synchronous motor driving the scooter with a claimed 6kW output and 25Nm torque. The Plus model offers three modes for riding: Eco, Ride, and Sports, whereas the Go model lacks the Sports mode. VX2 accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in 4.2 seconds, whereas the Plus model does it in 3.1 seconds. It has a top speed of 80 kmph.

Battery Performance

VX2 Go is powered by one 2.2kWh removable battery, which is capable of delivering a claimed IDC range of 92 km on full charge. In real-world conditions, it can deliver around 64 km in Eco mode and 48 km in Ride mode. The Plus version receives two removable 3.4kWh battery packs with a claimed IDC range of 142 km. It charges fully in around 120 minutes with a fast charger.
