Security has been tightened regarding the Amarnath Yatra. It is said that the Amarnath Yatra was interrupted for about 300 years. During this time, devotees were unable to reach Baba Barfani’s darshan, nor could they worship him.

It is claimed that the Amarnath Yatra was stopped from the middle of the 14th century to the middle of the 17th century. The main reasons behind this are believed to be the invasion by foreign invaders in the Kashmir Valley and the exodus of the Hindu population. Actually, in the 14th century, foreign invaders attacked the Kashmir Valley. Due to these attacks, widespread fear prevailed among the people in the area. It is also said that the invaders looted the temples. Destroyed religious places. People were afraid to go on the Amarnath Yatra.

Who discovered the Amarnath cave?

According to religious beliefs, Maharishi Bhrigu is said to have been the first to visit the Amarnath cave. It is said that when the Kashmir Valley was submerged, Maharishi Kashyap drained the water through rivers and drains. Then Rishi Bhrigu came from the same route on a journey to the Himalayas, seeking a secluded place for penance. Then he saw the holy cave of Baba Amarnath. It is believed that the Amarnath Yatra started after this. The Shivling in the Amarnath cave is formed from water dripping from the cave’s roof. It is claimed that this Shivling increases and decreases in size with the cycle of the moonlight. It is named ‘Baba Barfani’ because of the Shivlinga made of ice.
