Red Magic Astra Tablet: Red Magic shook up the world markets by finally releasing their gaming performance tablet, the Red Magic Astra. Having been initially released in China under the name Red Magic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro, the company now turns to the world for notice. The Astra has been built incrementally with the heavy user and mobile gamer in mind, bringing together cutting-edge hardware, aggressive design, and gaming-oriented features to make it a player in the tablet market.

Stunning OLED Display with High Refresh Rate

The tablet boasts a slim yet immersive 9.06-inch OLED screen with crisp 2400×1504 resolution and an astonishingly silky smooth refresh rate of 165Hz. With as much as 1600 nits of peak brightness and ultra-skinny bezels that are only 4.9mm thick, it boasts an incredible 90.1% screen-to-body ratio. Red Magic hasn’t compromised on eye comfort either, it has 5280Hz PWM dimming and TÜV Rheinland certification for a flicker-free and low blue light viewing experience even on prolonged gaming sessions.

Level-Up Performance with Snapdragon 8 Elite

Internally, the Astra features Qualcomm’s latest 3nm flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, in conjunction with the Red Core R3 Pro co-processor. The accessory chip is responsible for frame-rate smoothing, AI-powered gaming features, and super-resolution rendering. In regards to memory, it features up to 24GB of LPDDR5T RAM (9600Mbps) and UFS 4.1 Pro storage of up to 1TB, which translates to extremely quick load times and application switching.

Optimized Gaming Environment and Software

Coming with Redmagic OS 10.5 from Android 15, the tablet has gamer-focused features such as the Cube Game Engine to manage heat and power better. The operating system adds productivity features such as the Super Workbench, support for PC emulators, and Magic Companion 2.0 AI assistant to deal with routine tasks, making it a gaming tablet.

Cameras and Battery Life

Red Magic Astra packs in a 13MP scanner camera and a daily shots rear camera, and an 8MP front camera intended for video calling and live streaming. The phone is powered by an 8200mAh battery with 80W fast charging that can allegedly deliver up to 50% charge in 22 minutes. Bypass charging support also exists to enable power supply directly to the device while gaming to help limit heat production and save battery life.

Immersive Audio, Haptics, and Touch Controls

For increased gaming immersion, the Astra features dual symmetrical 1620 speakers with DTS X Ultra audio that provides immersive, directional sound. There are two X-axis linear motors for haptic feedback response, and the Synaptics S3930 touch controller with 2000Hz touch sampling to provide accurate input that is a must for competitive gaming. 

Connectivity and Security

For connectivity, the tablet is equipped with the newest Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2. The tablet also has a side-mounted fingerprint reader integrated within the power button for added convenience and secure access.

Global Pricing and Availability

Red Magic Astra is offered in three models 12GB+256GB at $549, 16GB+512GB at $699, and 24GB+1TB for $899. It is offered in Eclipse Black and Starfrost Silver, with the high-end model only being offered in Eclipse Black. The tablet is on sale worldwide starting July 16, while early bird deals begin July 15 with special discounts, complimentary 80W charging, and gaming accessories.
