Only 12th Grade Pass from a recognised board. Minimum & maximum age for Grade C should be from 18 to 30 years; an age from 18 to 27 years will be eligible for Grade D as on 01.08.2025; Age relaxation in case of SC/ST, OBC, PwD, and other reserved categories as per Government rules.

Another eligibility criterion is the nationality. You should be born of Indian citizen ancestry, a person of Nepal and Bhutan, or an Indian-born who might be a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan as per SSC rules and regulations.

What Is The Selection Procedure?

Selection will be through the SSC Stenographer computer-based test, followed by a dictation skill test: the CBT contains about 200 MCQs divided into three sections from General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and the English Language & Comprehension. The examination time is for 2 hours, and a penalty of 0.25 will be imposed for an incorrect answer.

The ones who get qualified in CBT get snowballed for their Skill test whereby transcription of dictation for 10 minutes will be done by the candidates. Speed at 100 wpm in the chosen language, either English or Hindi, for the Grade C post, while for Grade D, that would be 80 wpm.
