Hyundai Hybrid SUV: Hyundai is set to redefine India’s SUV market with its forthcoming hybrid models. Ranging from flagship luxury to urban chic, the brand is set to provide something for each segment. With sustainability and performance being the key themes, these hybrids are set to bring excitement and efficiency on Indian roads.

Hyundai Palisade Hybrid May Launch by 2028

Hyundai’s globally acclaimed Palisade SUV is being considered for an Indian launch. The model headed to India is also expected to carry a hybrid configuration identical to its global variant. This transmission features a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine coupled with an electric motor to produce a combined output of 334 hp and 460 Nm of torque.

In addition to this power, the SUV should be able to offer a mileage of just over 14 kmpl. If launched, it would be positioned as a premium product, becoming the company’s flagship SUV in India.

Upcoming Premium 7-Seater SUV

Hyundai is also developing a brand-new premium three-row SUV, likely to be placed between the Alcazar and Tucson. Though no launch date has been confirmed, speculation points to a possible arrival around 2027. Production is likely to take place at Hyundai’s Talegaon facility, which is being readied for other upcoming models. Internally codenamed Ni1i, this SUV might feature a hybrid powertrain as well, potentially based on Hyundai’s existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine reworked for hybrid usage. If brought to life, this model could fill a key gap in Hyundai’s SUV portfolio.

Next-Gen Hyundai Creta to Feature Hybrid Tech

The next generation of the popular Creta SUV is also being shaped with hybrid intentions. While Hyundai’s near-term focus remains on the new-generation Venue expected by year-end, groundwork for the Creta update is already underway. The upcoming model, codenamed SX3, could see a full overhaul in design and structure by 2027. A mid-cycle update is also expected for the Creta EV. Speculations hint that the Creta may embrace a strong hybrid petrol configuration, signaling Hyundai’s seriousness in transitioning toward electrified powertrains.

Hyundai’s Multi-Powertrain Vision for India

Hyundai’s hybrid push is part of a broader multi-powertrain strategy aimed at catering to diverse consumer needs. The introduction of hybrids in various segments—premium, mid-size, and compact—highlights this vision. With rising fuel costs and environmental awareness, these upcoming hybrids could redefine buyer expectations in the SUV market.
