India’s electric vehicle space is gearing up for a huge jump as some of the leading automakers are on the verge of launching their newest EVs. With the launches lined up to happen sometime during the festive season, brands will be battling hard in segments from compact SUVs to luxury MPVs. Here’s what’s about to come:

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is all set to enter the electric segment with the e Vitara. Manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, this SUV will serve both domestic and export markets. It will come in two battery variants – a 61.1 kWh version offering over 500 km range and a 48.8 kWh option for budget-conscious buyers. Thanks to DC fast charging, the users will get a 0 to 80% charge in approximately 50 minutes. The e Vitara will come with Delta, Zeta, and Alpha trims and may launch in September.

Tata Punch EV Facelift

Tata Motors is developing a new, upgraded version of the Punch EV. Although significant powertrain overhauls have not been officially announced, the facelift will introduce major updates to the exterior and interior. The upgrades are aimed at making the SUV more desirable as the EV competition continues to intensify, particularly with newer models coming into the same price segment.

Mahindra XEV 7e and XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra’s XEV 7e, developed on the XUV.e8 concept, will be the company’s initial three-row EV and draw styling influences from the XUV700. The XUV 3XO EV, on the other hand, is the one below the XUV400 and has been seen testing quite often. It is anticipated to compete directly with the Tata Punch EV and Nexon EV, increasing the competition even further in the subcompact electric SUV segment.

Kia Clavis EV

Kia is entering the electric MPV segment with the Clavis EV, which is due for a launch next month. Expected to get the same battery configuration as the forthcoming Creta Electric, the Clavis EV should have a range of over 460 km. Cosmetic and interior tweaks of a minor nature over its ICE sibling will set it apart as a new-generation electric variant in a niche category.

MG M9 and Cyberster

MG Motor is about to introduce two new electric models through its MG Select dealerships – the Cyberster convertible car and M9 luxury MPV. Pre-launched earlier at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, both cars target premium EV buyers. MG has already commenced bookings, with the deliveries expected to begin around the festive season.

VinFast VF 6 and VF 7

VinFast is launching in India with the VF 6 and VF 7, displayed via a roadshow across selected malls. Production at its Tamil Nadu plant is set to start shortly. The VF 6 guarantees a WLTP-approved range of up to 480 km, which puts it in stiff competition in the mid-size EV space. The two models are set to appear in showrooms by the festive season.
