Volkswagen is gearing up to introduce a fresh subcompact SUV in India to shake up the stronghold of models such as Brezza, Nexon, and Venue. Its latest car, named Tera, has created a buzz even before its release by receiving a 5-star safety certification. With a very sturdy build and high-end safety features, it may prove to be a force to be reckoned with come year-end.

Launch Timeline in India

The automaker has not made a formal announcement, but anticipation is growing for the launch of Tera in the next few months. In the wake of the success of Skoda Kushaq in the sub-4-meter SUV segment, Volkswagen now wants a piece of the same action. If launched on schedule, Tera will join the fray against biggies such as Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet.

Tera’s Safety Rating Impresses Globally

Brazil-manufactured Volkswagen Tera recently passed a Latin NCAP crash test and earned excellent ratings. In adult occupant protection, it achieved 89.88% while in child occupant safety it recorded 87.25%. In pedestrian and road user protection, it scored 75.77%, and under safety assist, it got 84.76%.

The test demonstrated outstanding protection for driver and passenger in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. Head, neck, and knees were all well protected, leading to the car scoring top safety marks.

What Makes Tera Structurally Strong

Tera is platformed upon the MQB A0, which is renowned for its strength and stability. Such a strong base ensures that the car handles well not only in crash tests but also in routine driving. The structural layout accommodates a safer driving experience, particularly in urban and semi-urban driving conditions.

Loaded with Standard Safety Features

Volkswagen has added several premium safety features as standard to the Tera. The SUV receives six airbags that protect all occupants. It also features Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which enhances the control of the vehicle when driving in slippery conditions or when sudden movements are made.

One other feature highlight is Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), which optimizes safety in possible frontal collisions. For child passengers, there is the ISOFIX child seat mounting system for maximal security. These are evidences of Volkswagen’s commitment to providing a modern and secure car.
