The trailer was released in a grand manner by Mohanlal at 6 pm in Kochi. Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal himself were present on this special occasion. Controversy also about the film!

Recently, an executive producer of ‘Kannappaa’ has lodged a complaint at the Film Nagar Police Station in Hyderabad. He has alleged theft of the hard disk containing the VFX scenes of the film. The makers said in a statement that they have received reliable information that the people who stole the hard disk are planning to leak more than 90 minutes of unreleased footage online to hinder the release of the film. It is hoped that this controversy will not affect the film.
