There is extremely important news for crores of central employees and pensioners across the country! In March, the central government increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees and pensioners from 53 percent to 55 percent from January 2025. Now the next dearness allowance is likely to increase from July 2025, which is expected to be announced around Diwali.
But, before that, once again the discussion on the payment of DA arrears of 18 months has intensified, which was stopped during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Will the employees be able to get a big amount of up to Rs 2.20 lakh? Let us know what is the new update on this hot issue, the full story of the meeting held in Delhi, and what other demands were also discussed.

What is the matter of 18 months of DA arrears
Recently a high-level meeting was held at the Civil Service Officers Institute (CSOI) in Delhi. In this meeting, the demand for payment of 18 months of DA arrears of central employees and pensioners from July 2020 to January 2021 was raised, which was stopped during the Corona epidemic. This issue is deeply emotional among the employees, as they believe that it is their right.
This meeting was chaired by the Secretary, in which senior leaders like Shivgopal Mishra and M. Raghavaiya participated on behalf of the Employees Union. He strongly demanded that the central government should pay the pending dues as soon as possible, as it is a statutory right of employees and pensioners. He argues that even when the dearness allowance was stopped, inflation did not reduce.
If DA arrears are paid, who will get how much amount?
If DA arrears of 18 months are paid, then employees and pensioners can get big financial relief. Shivgopal Mishra of the National Council of JCM (Joint Consultative Mechanism) says that:
The amount of DA arrears for level-1 employees can be from ₹ 11,880 to ₹ 37,554.

For higher-level employees (Level-13 and Level-14)
If the calculation is done for Level-13 (7th CPC Basic Pay Scale ₹1,23,100 to ₹2,15,900) or Level-14 (Pay Scale), an employee is to be paid dearness allowance arrears ranging from ₹1,44,200 to ₹2,18,200.
Detailed calculation
If the employee’s Basic Salary is ₹18,000, he can get 3 months DA arrears (4,320+3,240+4,320) = ₹11,880.
If the basic salary of the employee is ₹56,000, he can get 3 months DA arrears (13,656 + 10,242 + 13,656) = ₹37,554.
