Maruti Dzire: The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire is riding high on success, and its story just got all the more impressive. From being the best-seller in May’s sales chart to being the first Maruti to achieve a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP test, Dzire has been in the news. And now, it has left everyone stunned once again by achieving 5 stars in the Bharat NCAP crash test, becoming the first sedan in India to do so.

India’s First Sedan with 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating

Maruti Dzire is now officially the first sedan in the nation to be given a 5-star rating for crash tests conducted by Bharat NCAP. This distinction places it ahead of its competitors and adds yet another feather in its cap after it also scored the same in the Global NCAP. The test car – Dzire LXI 1.2L ISS 5MT – was fitted with elements such as front, side chest, and curtain airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and seatbelt pre-tensioner with load limiters.

Same Rating Across Variants

What is even more special about this achievement is that the Bharat NCAP 5-star rating is for all variants of the Dzire. Whether it’s VXI, ZXI, ZXI+, or even AGS (Auto Gear Shift) variants, all fall under the same safety net. This means models such as TOUR S, so the customer feels reassured whatever variant one buys.

Adult Occupant Protection Performance

Dzire’s adult safety rating was outstanding. It achieved 29.46 out of a possible 32 points, ranking amongst the best in the segment. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it earned 14.17 out of 16, and the side movable deformable barrier test result was 15.29 out of 16. Although protection for the driver’s chest was labeled as “marginal,” all other body regions indicated good protection, which helped it to achieve the top rating.

Child Occupant Safety Score Stuns

As far as child occupant safety is concerned, Dzire did not fall short. It achieved a rating of 5 stars, scoring 41.57 out of 49. Dynamic test contributed 23.57 out of 24, and CRS (Child Restraint System) fitting earned full marks of 12 out of 12. But in vehicle assessment criteria, it scored 6 out of 13, reflecting some areas for improvement in safety assist technologies.

Built-in Safety Assist Technologies

The test vehicle had various safety assists such as ESC (Electronic Stability Control), pedestrian protection, and seatbelt reminders. Apart from providing superior performance in crash tests, they also contributed to its overall day-to-day safety credentials.
