Maruti Dzire: In a turn of events for May 2025, a small sedan has beaten India’s best SUVs, such as Hyundai Creta, Mahindra Scorpio, and Tata Nexon. Leading the sales list, this Maruti Suzuki model has been unsurpassed not only in sales, but also in mileage, making it a customer favorite once more.

Maruti Dzire Tops the Chart

Maruti Suzuki Dzire has emerged as the best-selling car in India for May 2025, registering a massive 18,084 units in sales. Outperforming even popular SUVs, this sedan continues to attract buyers with its sleek design and practical features. Backed by Maruti’s trusted brand value and widespread service network, the Dzire continues its reign across urban and rural markets alike.

Mileage Performance

What adds to the attractiveness of Dzire is its fuel efficiency. Based on the company claims, the petrol manual transmission variant gives a staggering mileage of 24.79 km/l, whereas the automatic model gives an even better 25.71 km/l. This performance ranks Dzire as the best mileager among all top-selling models, surpassing the competition offered by bulkier SUVs that lack such high fuel efficiency.

Other Top Contenders in the List

In its wake, the second spot was taken by Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with 16,140 units sold. Ertiga’s roomy design and pocket-friendliness keep it popular among family purchasers. Just behind it is Maruti Brezza, taking the third spot with 15,566 units sold.

Hyundai Creta, including its electric version, stood at fourth place with 14,860 units sold in May. Despite its popularity, it couldn’t surpass Maruti’s compact models in overall sales. Mahindra Scorpio and its N variant finished in the fifth position, registering 14,401 units combined.

Maruti’s Dominance in the Top 10

Among the top 10 best-selling vehicles of May, an astonishing 7 were Maruti Suzuki models, thereby reasserting the company’s leadership within the Indian automotive industry. Maruti Swift ranked second with 14,135 units, followed by WagonR at seventh position with 13,949 units. These statistics reflect steady customer confidence in the brand’s economical and compact models.

SUV Segment Competition

While Dzire topped the charts, SUVs continue to be very much in the interest of Indian consumers. Maruti Fronx retailed 13,584 units during the last month, reflecting its growing popularity. Tata Punch, with its electric counterpart, took the next spot with sales of 13,133 units. Tata Nexon, with both petrol and EV models, hit 13,096 units in overall sales.
