Bots Troubling Regular Commuters
The action has been taken to safeguard true passengers. It is generally seen that certain users use automated tools or bots to reserve numerous tickets at one time. Thus, regular users find it difficult to obtain even a single ticket. To deal with the issue, IRCTC created a specific AI-based system that detected and disabled more than 2.4 crore such accounts in the last six months. Approximately 20 lakh more accounts are being questioned, with continuous Aadhaar and ID verification.

As of now, there are over 13 crore active users on IRCTC. But no more than 1.2 crore of them are Aadhaar-verified. IRCTC has now also opted to probe each unverified account in detail. If any of them are suspicious, they may be locked forever to ensure integrity.
Tatkal Bookings Given Priority to Aadhaar-Linked Users
To make Tatkal tickets more accessible and transparent, IRCTC now favors Aadhaar-linked users for the first 10 minutes of Tatkal booking. Authorized agents are also barred from booking tickets for this time. This makes Aadhaar verification even more important for frequent travelers.
