Hero VX2: Hero MotoCorp is set to disrupt the electric two-wheeler segment with a new launch. The initial teaser of its latest electric scooter, Vida VX2, has gone live on social media. This new launch will arrive on July 1 and is touted to be a lower-cost variant developed for the Indian market. The company will be positioning it below its current V2 range, and hence, it could very well appeal to cost-conscious EV buyers.
Exterior Design Based on V2 Range
The new Vida VX2 was recently seen without camouflage, giving us a clear glimpse of how it looks. The new scooter bears a very similar look to the present-day Vida V2 scooters with respect to headlamp and tail lamps’ design. Its swooshed body style is a carbon copy of the same design language, pointing to it possibly being designed on the same design platform. This familiar look can provide present-day Vida enthusiasts a sense of continuity, but without the higher price tag.
Interior and Functional Hardware
The spied Vida VX2 version featured a TFT screen, although it seemed smaller than that of V2 units. It also features physical keys for navigating display settings rather than a complete touch screen. The keyhole seen on this model points towards a traditional and cost-effective method compared to those featuring keyless solutions in high-end scooters. The switchgear also appears transferred from the V2 series.
Expected Features
Though the complete spec sheet remains unknown, some of the expected features are:
- Smaller TFT instrument cluster
- Physical key-based functionality
- Traditional keyhole and switchgear
- Curved body shape with traditional lights
- Possible multiple battery pack options
- Platform aimed at affordability
Possibility of Multiple Battery Options
To entice a broader set of purchasers, the firm could provide more than one battery pack option with the VX2. While formal information has not yet been disclosed, this action would enable users to choose a variant depending upon their everyday use requirements and affordability. It is a trendy practice within the EV segment to expand models along the lines of battery capacity, and Vida appears to be on the same path.
Expected Pricing and Market Placement
Although the price tag has not been announced, it is expected that the VX2 will be priced lower than the Vida V2, which begins at ₹74,000 (ex-showroom) and extends to ₹1.20 lakh. The lower specs and orthodox hardware of the VX2 indicate that it’s being targeted at price-conscious customers who wish to make a foray into electric mobility.
