If you use a CNG vehicle, then there is very good news for you. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), one of the largest gas distribution companies in the country, has started cutting CNG prices. IGL has announced a reduction of ₹ 1 per kg in the price of CNG in Karnal, Haryana. Now one kg of CNG in Karnal will be available for ₹ 83.43 (this information may be old as of 9 June 2025, today the price of CNG in Karnal is ₹ 80.43 per kg).
However, at present there has been no change in the prices of CNG in other cities, but this is a positive sign. Let us tell you that recently the government had reduced the prices of natural gas, after which the prices of CNG were expected to decrease.
Effect on CNG and PNG

Both CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) and PNG (Piped Natural Gas) are made from natural gas. Recently, the government cut the price of natural gas produced from fields allocated to ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) without auction. This price was reduced from $6.75 per million British thermal units (MMBTU) to $6.41. This was the first reduction after the government implemented a new formula to fix the price of such gas in April 2023.
Natural gas prices were reduced by about 5 percent, but experts had already predicted that gas distribution companies would not pass on the benefit of this entire reduction directly to consumers. The companies were already facing the pressure of increasing input costs. However, this reduction in Karnal is a positive initiative.
It is believed that Indraprastha Gas Limited may soon announce a cut in CNG prices in other cities as well. This will prove to be a big relief for lakhs of CNG drivers who are struggling with rising fuel expenses.
