Vivo Pad 5: Vivo has launched its new tablet in China, the Vivo Pad 5, a big upgrade from the Pad 5 Pro. Intended for both work and leisure activities, this new slim device comes with a high-speed processor, high-definition display, and extended battery life. Combined with cutting-edge software capabilities, it is set to provide a nearly desktop-like experience for mobile users.

Display and Design

The Vivo Pad 5 features a big 12.1-inch LCD screen that offers a 2.8K resolution of 3096 × 2064 pixels. The screen boasts a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 144Hz refresh rate, providing smooth visuals for consumption and productivity. It also supports a maximum of 900 nits of peak brightness. The tablet has a slim and sophisticated all-metal design, with a thickness of just 6.62mm and a weight of 590 grams.

Software and Productivity Software

Powered by OriginOS 5 on top of Android 15, the software is optimized for large-screen computing. Some of the main productivity software is a PC-level WPS Office suite and a customized CAJViewer to edit academic journal articles. These are intended for professionals and students who need a desktop-type experience from a portable device.

Battery and Connectivity

Powering the device is a 10,000mAh battery that Vivo says can last the device up to 62 days on standby. It also has 44W fast charging support through USB Type-C. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC, so it is ready for the future to use as required by modern consumers.

Vivo Pad 5 Price and Accessories

Vivo Pad 5 comes in Blue, Grey, and Pink colors. Prices begin at 2399 yuan (approximately $330) for 8GB + 128GB. There are other choices such as 8GB + 256GB at 2799 yuan, 12GB + 256GB at 3099 yuan, and 16GB + 512GB at 3499 yuan. Accessories offer the Smart Folio 5 for 199 yuan, Smart Touch Keyboard 5 at 599 yuan, and Vivo Pencil 3 at 499 yuan. Pre-orders are already underway and official sales commence on June 6 in China.
