HMD Direct-to-Mobile: Tech company HMD is going to launch a smartphone equipped with Free Stream technology i.e. Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) Free Stream. Where through D2M technology, users can access OTT, TV, video, audio and text messages without Wi-Fi or internet service.

The official announcement of this phone will be made at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025. Which will be organized from May 1 to May 4 at Jio World Center located in Mumbai.

Regarding this, HMD says that the phone equipped with D2M-technology will be Made and Designed in India. Which will be available in low-cost design. Let us tell you that it will be introduced with Direct to Mobile Technology support powered by Tejas Network.

Testing is going on

Tejas Network has been testing D2M technology in collaboration with Prasar Bharati and IIT Kanpur for some time now. At the same time, this network is upgrading BSNL’s 4G and 5G networks.

Know what is Direct-to-Mobile technology?

Direct-to-Mobile i.e. D2M technology means that it has integrated both broadcast and broadband. Through which you will be able to access OTT, live TV, video-audio and text messages without Wi-Fi and internet connectivity. This technology will work just like FM radio, which transfers information on set frequency. Which will reduce the load of the cellular network.

Where will it be available?

D2M network will run in big cities like Delhi, Noida and Bangalore. Its trial has been going on since last year. At the same time, the second phase of testing is going to start soon across the country. However, no official information is available about it yet.
