In the history of the IPL, Gujarat Titans chased a target of more than 200 runs for the first time on Saturday, April 19. Prasidh Krishna, Sherfane Rutherford, and Jos Buttler played important roles in Gujarat’s victory.
Prasidh Krishna took four wickets, while Jos Buttler stayed unbeaten with 97 runs. For his brilliant innings, Buttler was awarded Player of the Match. Jos Buttler scored 97 runs in 54 balls, hitting 11 fours and 4 sixes. He missed his century by just three runs. However, Buttler said he had no regrets. After the match, Buttler revealed that he was not thinking about the century. He only wanted to win the match for his team.
“I Had Many Chances, But Winning Matters”
Jos Buttler said, “You always want to win the match. I had chances to score a century before and I will get more in the future. But for me, two points are the most important thing.”
He also shared what he told Rahul Tewatia during the chase:
“I told Tewatia not to worry about my score. The only focus was to win the match. Credit to him — for the last few years, he has shown how to hit big shots from the very first ball.”
“Happy to Get Two Points”
Buttler added, “I am very happy to collect these two points. It was a beautiful wicket to bat on, the key was to take the game deep. We built some great partnerships today.”
He also admitted, “I have done poor wicketkeeping in the first six matches, so I was determined to improve. I am happy I could contribute better this time.”
“Always Fun to Bat With Rutherford”
The star batsman praised his teammate and said,
“It always feels great when you manage to take a good catch. And I’ve really enjoyed batting with Rutherford. He can hit sixes from anywhere on the ground. His sixes off Mohit Sharma completely changed the game and the momentum.”
Buttler further added, “With him, we also get a left-right combination, which helps the team a lot during pressure moments.”
