OnePlus Nord CE 5 5G: The new OnePlus Nord CE 5 5G recently had its specs leak on the internet, and the device looks like it is attempting to find a balance between performance, screen quality, and battery life. Targeting the mid-range market, this phone offers some very intriguing features, but does it do enough to cut through in a saturated market?

Display: Big and Smooth, But Not Revolutionary

Nord CE 5 5G has a large 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with 393 PPI pixel density and 1080 x 2412 pixels resolution. The inclusion of a 120Hz refresh rate and punch-hole design provides a seamless experience and cool looks. Corning Gorilla Glass is the protector. While offering HDR10+, sRGB, and P3 color gamut support, the lack of quality QHD resolution or LTPO technology may leave screen enthusiasts wanting more.

Design and Build: Functional, Not Luxury

OnePlus has opted for a utilitarian approach here. With a side-mounted fingerprint sensor instead of an in-display one, it’s a little outdated for 2025. The phone has an ambient display and dark mode support, but not an IP rating or water resistance, so it’s not as tough as some others in the same price range. No FM radio may not be a deal-breaker, but still worth noting for radio fans.

Camera Setup: Sufficient but Unimpressive

The phone features a dual-camera setup at the back, a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP secondary camera. It can record 4K UHD-quality video, which is a thoughtful touch but not exactly groundbreaking in any way. The 16MP front camera is average for regular selfies and video calls, but here as well, it doesn’t break new ground when it comes to photography.

Performance: Good for the Money

Under the hood, the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor powers the phone, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. While the combination is good for everyday use and a few games, it won’t quite keep up with superior flagship processors. The presence of a dedicated memory card slot with a capacity of up to 1TB is a great bonus for users who need more storage capacity.

Battery Life and Charging: Enormous Numbers, Enormous Potential

Arguably, the most enticing selling point is its enormous 7100mAh battery, which should easily tolerate heavy utilization over an entire day and more. Paired with 80W SUPERVOOC charging, the phone provides fast top-ups and reduced downtime, ideal for heavy users and binge-watchers alike.

Verdict: A Mixed Bag with Strong Battery Appeal

OnePlus Nord CE 5 5G is a good mid-range phone with powerful battery life, decent performance, and a suitable screen. It doesn’t, however, bring any specific innovation. If charging speed and battery life are what you value most, then this phone is worth considering, but if you’re looking for bleeding-edge functionality or premium-level performance, you may want to look elsewhere.
