New rates will be applicable from April 1

The new electricity rates announced by the Assam government have definitely brought a big relief to the citizens of the state. According to these rates, which will come into effect from the first date of next month, electricity rates for all domestic consumers will be reduced by Rs 1 per unit, which will bring a huge reduction in electricity bills in the scorching heat. Apart from this, there has been a reduction of 25 paise per unit for agricultural, industrial and commercial sectors as well.

This move is being seen as a fulfillment of the promise made in the budget of the Assam government. This will not only provide relief to domestic consumers, but will also reduce the cost of electricity in the agricultural and industry sectors, which will help in reducing the production cost of these sectors.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed about the reduction in tariff in a post on social media platform X. He wrote, ‘From April 1, there will be a reduction of ₹ 1 / unit in electricity rates for all domestic consumers, giving them much-needed relief before the peak of summer. Agricultural, industrial and commercial charges will be reduced by 25 paise / unit. Another promise of the budget is fulfilled.

Recently, Chief Minister Sarma had told that in the last four years, there has been a great increase in tourism in Assam and more than three crore domestic tourists have come to Assam in the last four years. He had said that the increasing number of tourists reflects the growing popularity of Assam as a major tourist destination in the country.
