The star batter, who will be playing for a new franchise this year, performed a special puja at the silver gate of the temple and sought Lord Shiva’s blessings for his upcoming journey. Along with his prayers for a successful IPL season, Rahul also prayed for the health and well-being of his pregnant wife, Athiya Shetty, and their unborn child.

Having previously captained Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), KL Rahul entered the IPL 2025 auction, where he was bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹14 crore. Reports suggest that Rahul was the first choice for captaincy but voluntarily opted out, supporting Axar Patel’s leadership.

On March 17, 2025, KL Rahul visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. He entered through the silver gate, performed the rituals, and adorned his forehead with a sacred tilak. He was also seen wearing a special Rudraksha mala. After completing the temple visit, he proceeded to the Nandi Hall, where he whispered his wishes into Nandi’s ears, a traditional Hindu ritual believed to bring good fortune.

Rahul’s visit comes at a significant time, as he is about to embrace fatherhood. His wife, Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, is expecting their first child, and the cricketer sought divine blessings for a healthy and happy journey for both mother and child.
