The fine for using a mobile phone while driving has increased from ₹500 to ₹5,000. This rule has been brought to prevent distracted driving.
Not wearing a helmet will now attract a fine of ₹1,000. Also, the license can be canceled for 3 months.
Drunk driving can attract a fine of ₹10,000 and 6 months imprisonment. Repeat offenders will be fined ₹15,000 and 2 years imprisonment.
Not wearing a seat belt will now attract a fine of ₹1,000. This rule applies to both driver and passenger.
Driving without license or insurance will attract a fine of ₹5,000 and ₹2,000. Also, there can be 3 months imprisonment and community service.
Dangerous driving or racing will attract a fine of ₹5,000. Not giving way to emergency vehicles will attract a fine of ₹10,000.
Now a fine of ₹5,000 will be imposed for breaking signals. Vehicle overloading can attract a fine of up to ₹20,000.
