England beat India by 5 wickets in Leeds, chasing 371 – the 4th-highest successful Test chase ever. Take 1-0 lead in 5-match series.
Ben Duckett's 149 (170 balls) demolished India’s attack. His 188-run opening stand with Crawley (65) set up the historic chase.
India briefly fought back: Prasidh removed Crawley & Pope, while Thakur took Duckett & Brook in consecutive balls. Too little, too late!
Joe Root (53*) and Jamie Smith (44*) sealed the win with an unbroken 71-run stand. England reached 373/5 in just 82 overs!
– Dropped catch (Jaiswal missed Duckett) – Kuldeep’s exclusion backfired – Siraj/Thakur leaked runs – 835 runs in vain
– Highest team total in a loss: India’s 835 runs (471 & 364) – England’s chase is 4th-best in Test history
Birmingham, July 2-6. Can India bounce back? Or will England dominate again? Stay tuned!
