The final league match of IPL 2026 at the Ekana Stadium turned into this really deeply memorable kind of night for the Tendulkar family. And you know, the timing was almost too perfect. Making his highly anticipated debut for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings, 26-year-old Arjun Tendulkar delivered a performance that was so calm and measured that it almost melted the heart of his father, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. After the youngster wrapped up his impressive spell, the Master Blaster then took to social media with a rare and emotional message for his son, like he couldn’t keep it in.

Sachin’s Rare Message
Sachin Tendulkar, who normally keeps up this strict public silence about Arjun’s cricket career, couldn’t hold back the pride after the match. His most recent public post about Arjun was way back in 2023, during Arjun’s stint with Mumbai Indians. But right after Saturday’s game finished, Sachin wrote a touching note on X where he praised Arjun’s work ethic, and it landed with a quiet kind of weight.
Sachin commended the left-arm pacer for staying positive and continuing to grind behind the curtains, even though he had to wait until the very final league-stage game of the season for his chance. He also pointed out that cricket demands patience just as much as it demands skill, and then he ended by telling Arjun to keep his feet on the ground, remain centered, and stay genuinely in love with the game.
A massive chance goes down! 😳

Solid bowling performance
Arjun came into the attack right after the powerplay, but this time it was captain Rishabh Pant who brought him on, and honestly he looked totally calm no weird debut nerves at all. He started pretty aggressive, going after Punjab’s Prabhsimran Singh with a bunch of sharp well-directed bouncers. That extra bounce really messed with the batter, and it ended up with a leg-side edge, straight to the wicketkeeper. But then Pant dropped it—so Arjun didn’t get that wicket on his first over, even if the chance was right there.
You could say that miss ended up costing Lucknow a bit extra, because Prabhsimran moved on and smashed a destructive half-century, and Lucknow also had to bear an additional 49 runs overall. Still, Arjun didn’t wobble. In fact he wrapped up his opening spell, giving away just four runs. Then his second over, yeah that one went for 15 as Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran charged forward down the pitch, but later on Arjun adjusted in a very neat way, and the rhythm came back.
Breaking Through the Onslaught
He returned for his third over in the 15th over of the chase, and there you could see the intensity because Shreyas Iyer was basically attacking the ball. Under all that pressure, the young speedster bowled a searing, completely hard to handle yorker that trapped Prabhsimran plumb in front of the stumps for 69 runs. That was his maiden wicket, and it was a big one for Lucknow.
After that, Arjun was trusted again for the crucial 17th over at the death. He executed well under stress, conceding only five runs. Punjab still chased the target of 197 , to win by seven wickets, but Arjun ended up with really respectable numbers of 1 for 36 in his full four over quota. In the end, he finished as Lucknow’s most economical bowler on the night, which isn’t nothing at all.
