New Delhi: Indian team’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh needs no introduction, having made a name for himself with his outstanding performances. He is now diligently preparing for the T20 World Cup 2026. 5 Wickets for Punjab
On July 3rd, Punjab and Sikkim clashed in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Jaipur. All eyes were on this match, as Shubman Gill and Arshdeep were expected to be part of the team. Shubman Gill could not participate due to illness, but Arshdeep was included in the playing eleven. Arshdeep delivered a spectacular bowling performance, breaking the back of the Sikkim batting lineup.
Arshdeep dominated from the start for Punjab. He took his first wicket in the third over and then continued to take wickets consistently. He sent 5 Sikkim batsmen back to the pavilion in his 9 overs of bowling.

In total, he bowled 10 overs, conceding 34 runs and taking 5 wickets. Besides him, spinner Mayank Markande took 2 wickets. Bajwa also took 2 wickets in the initial overs. Gurnoor Brar took 1 wicket. Thus, Sikkim was bowled out for a total of 75 runs.
Shubman Gill’s Sudden Illness
Punjab captain Shubman Gill was supposed to be part of the team against Sikkim in Jaipur, but that didn’t happen. He suddenly fell ill after eating.

Speaking of this match, Team India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill was also supposed to be a part of it. However, his condition suddenly worsened after eating. According to reports, Gill suffered from food poisoning before the match against Sikkim.
In this situation, it was decided at the last minute to rest him from the match. This is why Shubman Gill could not play in the first match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He is expected to play in the match against Goa on January 6th.
