Aadhaar Name Update: If a married woman wants to replace her father’s name with her husband’s name on her Aadhaar card, she can definitely do that. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made this process easier. You can now complete it both online and offline.

UIDAI permits modifications to relationship details. You can remove your father’s name from the Care of (C0) section on the Aadhaar card and add your husband’s name instead. However, you’ll need to provide certain documents for this.

Documents needed for Aadhaar update

To add your husband’s name, you need one of the following documents:

– Marriage certificate issued by the relevant authority
– Passport that includes your husband’s name
– Ration card showing your husband’s name
– Joint Bank Passbook
– Any relationship proof document accepted by UIDAI

You will need to submit a copy of one of these documents along with your application.

How to update Aadhaar online?

Just follow these steps to update your Aadhaar details online:

1. First, visit the UIDAI’s Self Service Update Portal website.
2. Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP.
3. Choose the Update Aadhaar Online option.
4. Select the Relationship Details option.
5. Enter your husband’s name accurately.
6. Upload the necessary documents.
7. Review all the information carefully and submit your application.

Once you submit your application, you will get a Service Request Number. You can use this number to track the status of your application. Usually, changes are updated within seven to ten days.

How to make changes in Aadhaar offline?

If you do not want to go through the online process, you can also apply offline:

Visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Enrolment Centre.
Fill the Aadhaar correction form.
Enter Husband’s Name in Relationship Details.
Submit photocopies of the required documents.
Get biometric verification done if required.
After the process is complete, you will be given an acknowledgement receipt. You can track the status of your application using this receipt. This way, married women can easily update their husband’s name instead of their father’s on their Aadhaar card.
