New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not attend the Lok Sabha session to respond to the discussion on the motion of thanks, which was subsequently passed by a voice vote. The opposition is raising various questions about his absence from the House. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla made a surprising claim regarding the opposition.

Om Birla said that he himself had advised PM Modi against coming to the House. He claimed this was done because Congress MPs might physically attack him.

Given the massive uproar in the Lok Sabha, the proceedings were adjourned until Friday. Speaker Birla stated that something untoward could have happened to PM Narendra Modi if he had come to the Lok Sabha.
