Pulwama Attack 7th Anniversary: The meaning of February 14th has changed in India. Once known as a day of love and affection, this is no longer the case everywhere. This is the day that seven years ago inflicted wounds on India that no amount of ointment can heal. That afternoon of February 14th, 2019, an explosion occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, killing 40 Indian soldiers. For this reason, people also observe February 14th as a Black Day.

People are remembering and paying tribute to them through social media. Meanwhile, on the 7th anniversary, the administration in the Kashmir Valley is on alert, launching a search operation. Security forces have been deployed at every corner, and suspicious individuals are being searched. Security forces and agencies are taking a very serious approach to sensitive areas.

How February 14th Became a Day of Darkness

February 14th, 2019, was a day that shook not only the country but the world. On that day, at around 3:10 pm, a convoy of over 2,500 CRPF soldiers was travelling on a highway. A speeding car collided with the soldiers’ bus in Lethpora, Pulwama.

The massive explosion that followed shook the earth, and within seconds, 40 soldiers were martyred. The car contained approximately 300 kilograms of explosives. Both the car and the bus were blown to pieces. A cloud of smoke spread throughout the area, sending everyone into a state of panic. The conspiracy behind this attack, attributed to the Pakistan-backed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed, was exposed.

This incident plunged all of India into shock. Everyone’s eyes welled up remembering the martyrs. Twelve days later, the Indian Air Force carried out an airstrike in Balakot, Pakistan, destroying terrorist hideouts. That is why February 14th is remembered as the day of the martyrdom of soldiers.

Search Operation in Lal Chowk

Security agencies and security forces are on high alert on Friday, the day before February 14th. A major search operation is underway in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk. A joint search operation was launched to enhance security ahead of the anniversary, and several sensitive areas are being closely monitored.

Hotels, lodges, and business centres were thoroughly checked during the operation. Officials said hotel owners were asked to verify all the occupants’ details to ensure no suspicious activity was missed.

Police and security agencies maintained a strong presence throughout the area. Traffic was also briefly regulated, but normalcy later returned. This operation was carried out as a precautionary measure to prevent any potential threats in Srinagar and the surrounding areas.
