Om Birla to Attend Tarique Rahman’s Swearing-in Ceremony in Dhaka

New Delhi: The Bangladesh National Democratic Alliance (BNP) has secured a landslide victory in the Bangladesh general elections, paving the way for Tariq Rahman to become Prime Minister. Tariq Rahman will be sworn in as Prime Minister of Bangladesh on February 17, 2026, in Dhaka. Om Birla, Speaker of the Indian Lok Sabha, will also attend his swearing-in ceremony.

Prior speculation had been rife that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend. Birla’s participation in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Bangladesh government was seen as a way to end the strained relations between the two countries.
