New Delhi: The conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has now escalated into a fierce battle, with a continuous wave of attacks. Israelis are also attacking Iranian infrastructure, which is bound to increase the suffering of the common people. However, a diplomatic statement from the US has come as some relief to Iran.
US President Donald Trump’s administration has requested Israel to refrain from further attacks on Iran’s oil and energy infrastructure. This is the first time in the 11-day joint operation that the US has attempted to restrain Israel. This step is reportedly taken with the health of the Iranian people in mind, as recent attacks have caused problems such as toxic smoke and acid rain in Tehran.
What does the US think?
Amidst the fierce conflict, the US administration believes that the ongoing attacks are disturbing the Iranian people and are aimed at mobilising public support against the regime, rather than damaging infrastructure on the ground.
The Trump administration is also working to plan future cooperation with Iran’s oil sector. Meanwhile, the US fears that Iran could retaliate against Gulf energy installations in response to the attacks, potentially impacting the global oil market.
An Axios report states that recent Israeli attacks targeting Iran’s energy sector have blanketed Tehran with a thick blanket of toxic black smoke. There have also been reports of acid rain, posing a serious threat to the health of ordinary Iranians.
Advice Against Attacking Oil Installations
According to a report, sources familiar with the matter believe that Trump considers attacks on Iranian oil installations a “doomsday option.” He intends to use it only if Iran deliberately attacks Gulf oil installations.
Meanwhile, Trump warned on “Truth Social” that if Iran harms global oil supplies, it will face a 20-fold stronger response. He wrote that the US will target targets that will make it impossible for Iran to recover as a nation.
