IRCTC TDR Filing: If you’ve recently traveled on an Indian Railways train and had a less than satisfactory experience, you can file a complaint and request a refund. IRCTC offers a method to submit a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt). You can file a TDR if the train is delayed by over 3 hours, the air conditioning is malfunctioning, the train is rerouted, or the coach has been changed.
If you miss your train, the train is significantly late, the route has been altered, or there are issues with the coach, you can seek a refund in these situations. Let’s go over the steps you need to take to obtain a railway refund and understand the process involved.
How to file TDR?
Step 1- Log in to the IRCTC website at www.irctc.co.in.
Step 2- Navigate to My Account- My Transactions – File TDR.
Step 3- Choose the PNR of the ticket for which you want to file a TDR.
Step 4- Pick the appropriate reason for the TDR from the drop-down list.
Step 5- Select the passengers for whom the TDR is being filed and click on ‘File TDR’.
Step 6- Carefully read the provided instructions and click on ‘Yes’.
Step 7- Your TDR will be filed successfully, and a confirmation message will appear on your screen.
When can TDR be applied?
IRCTC permits passengers to file a TDR for a refund under various conditions. Each reason has a specific timeframe for filing a TDR. For instance, if the train is significantly delayed (over 3 hours), if the train’s route changes, if the coach is altered, or if a seat or amenity is unavailable, etc. These guidelines are detailed on the official IRCTC website. However, please note that IRCTC does not provide the option to book connecting train tickets, so refunds are not applicable for connecting journey tickets.
