Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat Trains Will Now Get Emergency Quota, Railways Introduces New Rules

Indian Railways has made a significant announcement for passengers. Indian Railways has introduced Emergency Quota in Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat sleeper trains. This system will be applicable through advance booking and will increase the chances of confirming seats even in emergency situations. Railways has introduced Emergency Quota for both Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat sleeper trains.
Indian Railways has revised the rules related to Emergency Quota to meet the urgent needs of passengers. The Railway Ministry has decided to implement Emergency Quota in the new Vande Bharat Sleeper Express and Amrit Bharat II trains.
What quota was available till now?
Now, Indian Railways has introduced Emergency Quota. This quota will be used only in emergency situations. However, this quota will not be applicable for everyone, only certain categories of passengers will get its benefit.
How many seats are reserved for Amrit Bharat?
According to a notification issued by the Indian Railways Board, 24 berths will be reserved for emergency quota in Amrit Bharat trains with more than 7 sleeper coaches. This means that out of the total seats, 24 berths will be reserved for emergency quota.

What is the quota for Vande Bharat?
In Vande Bharat sleeper, there will be separate reserved seats for 1A, 2A, 3A. The details of reserved seats for each of the three categories are given below-
- 1A (First AC)- Weekdays- 4 berths, Weekends- 6 berths
- 2A (Second AC)- Weekdays- 20 berths, Weekends- 30 berths
- 3A (Third AC)- Weekdays- 24 berths, Weekends- 42 berths

What are the benefits of an emergency quota?
The Railways has informed that this quota will be effective from the date of Advance Reservation Period (ARP) or the no-booking date, whichever is earlier.
This decision of the Railways will bring great relief to the passengers as it increases the chances of getting confirmed tickets for those planning to travel at short notice.
This quota will also prove to be a significant relief for passengers with special needs. The Railways may change this quota from time to time based on the need and demand.

According to the Railway Board, the zonal railways may adjust the emergency quota based on the availability of seats and the need.
Currently, the Indian Railways operates 12 Amrit Bharat Express trains and one Vande Bharat Sleeper train across the country, which runs between Guwahati in Assam and Howrah in West Bengal.
