IISc Bangalore BTech Admission 2026 Through JoSAA : The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore has made an important announcement which affects engineering students. Starting in 2026, IISc Bangalore will begin its BTech admission process by using JoSAA counselling. The admission process will use JEE Advanced 2026 rank for determining student eligibility. Students who prepare for JEE Advanced will find the new admission method more understandable because it eliminates complicated steps.
Admission Update
IISc Bangalore established its own BTech admission system which operated independently from other institutions. Students had to apply separately even after qualifying JEE Advanced. The JoSAA counselling system will begin to include IISc Bangalore for admission purposes starting from 2026. The application process requires no additional forms because students can select their major during JoSAA counselling just like they do at other top institutions.
BTech Course at IISc
IISc Bangalore offers a BTech course in Mathematics and Computing. The admission process will depend entirely on JEE Advanced ranking and student selection of courses during JoSAA counselling. The seat allocation will occur through a process which considers three factors: rank order, seat availability and category regulations.

JoSAA Counselling Process
JoSAA functions as the standardized counselling system which facilitates engineering admissions at leading institutions including IITs, NITs, IIITs and IISc Bangalore. After JEE Advanced results are declared, students have to register for JoSAA. They must select their colleges and courses by making their choices with utmost precision. The allocation process will occur through multiple rounds.
Why This Change Is Important
The students will find their time and energy requirements decreased through this transformation. Now students can apply for IISc Bangalore along with other top colleges using one counselling process. The process leads to less confusion because students will face no need to track different application periods and admission requirements which apply to IISc.
