Digital Payments Will Change the System

The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, has issued a letter to all states, CBSE, NCERT, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Samiti, and state boards, directing them to transition the entire fee payment process to digital mode.

Payments will be made available through UPI, mobile wallets, net banking, debit/credit cards, and PoS machines. The ministry has clarified that a digital system should be adopted instead of a cash-based system to ensure transparency and accountability in school financial transactions.

Objective of ‘Ease of Schooling’?

The ‘Ease of Schooling’ initiative aims not only to simplify fee payments, but also to simplify and digitalise the entire school admission and education process. The Ministry states that this initiative will strengthen the education system and promote digital transformation in line with the vision of a developed India by 2047.

Both parents and schools will benefit.

With the digital fee payment system, parents will no longer need to visit schools frequently. They will be able to make payments from their mobile phones or computers while sitting at home.

Experts say this will reduce fee irregularities, late fee disputes, and complaints. Many private schools are already seeing positive results by adopting digital payments.
