UIDAI Update: The Aadhaar card is a vital document, widely utilised as proof of identity in various contexts. Frequently, incorrect details may be inadvertently recorded on our Aadhaar cards, necessitating subsequent correction. However, certain details within the Aadhaar card can be updated only once in a lifetime. Even a minor error can potentially lead to significant complications for you in the future.

If you are planning to update your address on your Aadhaar card, there is good news. Updating your address in Aadhaar is no longer as difficult as it used to be. Previously, updating an address on an Aadhaar card required submitting proof of address; however, this is no longer the case. UIDAI has introduced a ‘Head of Family’ (HoF) mechanism for Aadhaar holders. Through this method, users can now update the address on their Aadhaar cards even without possessing any prior documentary proof.

Major Relief for Aadhaar Holders
Previously, updating an address on an Aadhaar card required documents such as a rent agreement, an electricity bill, or similar documents. However, the HoF method has now made this process significantly simpler. This UIDAI system allows you to update your Aadhaar address, provided you obtain consent from a family member. This facility offers substantial relief to individuals residing in rented accommodations.

You can now utilise the address recorded in the Aadhaar cards of your father, husband, or wife. This feature will prove immensely beneficial for those who do not possess any official address proof issued in their own name.

Follow These Steps
First, log in to the Aadhaar app.
Next, navigate to the ‘Services’ section and select the ‘Address Update’ option.
Subsequently, select the option to update your address using a family member’s Aadhaar details.
You will be required to complete an OTP verification via your mobile number.
Now, you must enter the Aadhaar number of the Head of the Family.
Next, select the option that specifies your relationship with that individual.
Finally, you must complete the self-declaration and face authentication processes.
