Under these new rules, some significant changes have been made for new ration cards. Most notably, the annual family income limit, which was previously Rs 1 lakh, has now been raised to Rs 1.2 lakh. This means that even families with slightly higher incomes can now apply for a ration card. However, along with the new rules, certain conditions have also been added to ensure that subsidies reach the right people. Which 7 people in Delhi will never get their ration card?

1. High Income Families – If the annual income of the family is more than Rs 1.2 lakh, then it will not be eligible for a ration card.

2. Members owning property – If any member of the family owns private property (in A to E category), then also ration card will not be given.

3. Income Tax Payers – If any member of the family pays income tax, then this family will not be eligible for a new ration card.

4. Four-wheel drive owners – If any family member owns a car or other four-wheel drive vehicle, they will not receive a ration card. However, if the vehicle is solely for daily household or commercial purposes, this rule will not apply.

5. High capacity electricity connection – If the house has an electricity connection of more than 2 kilowatts, then ration card will not be available.

6. Government employees or beneficiaries of government schemes – People working in the government or any government-related institution and who are already receiving benefits under any government food subsidy scheme.

7. Female Head of Household – Under the new rules, the eldest woman in the household will be the head of the household. If she is under 18, the male members will recognize her as the head of the household until she reaches adulthood.

How to apply for a new ration card?

Previously, people had to visit various offices to obtain ration cards. This will no longer be the case. According to reports, ration card applications will now be completely digital. You can apply online using your mobile phone or laptop. After completing the application, it will undergo rigorous scrutiny. A system has also been established to ensure timely resolution of complaints. The new system aims to ensure greater benefits for those covered under the National Food Security Act, 2013. To this end, accountability and transparency have been increased in the supply of subsidized rations.
