Petrol-Diesel Prices Today: Prospects for peace in West Asia appear to be all but closed. While a thaw in US-Iran relations had raised hopes that the situation would stabilise, storm clouds of crisis are gathering once again. This is impacting global oil prices, with the cost of crude oil rising once more.
Consequently, petrol and diesel prices are climbing in countries across the globe. In India, sky-high fuel prices are straining consumers’ budgets. On Tuesday—the second day of the business week—petrol and diesel prices remained steady. If you plan to fill up your vehicle’s tank, you might want to check the latest rate per litre first.
Prices Hiked Four Times in 11 Days
Petrol and diesel prices began to rise immediately after the assembly elections in five states concluded. Petroleum companies have hiked prices four times within 11 days. State-run petroleum companies first raised the price of petrol by ₹3 and diesel by ₹3.29 on May 15, 2026.
Prices were raised again on May 19 (petrol by 87 paise, diesel by 91 paise), May 23, 2026 (petrol by 87 paise, diesel by 91 paise), and May 25, 2026 (petrol by ₹2.61, diesel by ₹2.71). There have been no further changes to the prices since then.
