Lok Adalat: Big news for everyone. The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) has declared that a National Lok Adalat will take place on May 9, 2026. The event will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Delhi High Court and all district courts, including Karkardooma, Saket, Patiala House, Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Rohini, and Tis Hazari. This presents a wonderful opportunity for individuals looking for a swift and straightforward resolution to their pending cases or challans.
Which cases will be settled?
This Lok Adalat will address all civil and compoundable criminal cases, with the exception of divorce cases. Traffic challans will also be resolved. As per the Delhi Traffic Police, compoundable challans up to January 31, 2026, will be included, although cases such as red light violations will not be part of this. Given the significant number of pending challans in Delhi, the aim this time is to settle around 200,000 challans.
When and how to register?
If you wish to resolve your traffic challan, it is essential to book a slot in advance. The booking process will commence between May 4 and May 7, 2026. You can secure your slot by visiting the official website of the Delhi Traffic Police. After booking, you will need to download and print your challan. Then, make sure to visit the appropriate court at the scheduled time to settle your case.
New change in the process of invoice settlement
This time, once you settle your challan, you will not receive a separate payment receipt. Instead, the vehicle owner will get a comprehensive information message sent to their registered mobile number. This change aims to streamline the process and enhance its digital aspect.
Preparation for Lok Adalat
To guarantee the success of the Lok Adalat, around 200 special benches will be established. Each bench is tasked with settling approximately 1,000 challans. This clearly shows that the administration is gearing up to handle cases on a large scale this time.
