LPG Connection: If you’re planning to get a new LPG gas connection, this news may be important. The escalating international tensions in the Gulf countries are now affecting oil and gas supplies. Due to the disruption in crude oil and gas supplies, the issuance of new LPG connections has slowed in many areas. In some areas, a limited number of new connections are being granted temporarily.

The process of transferring old gas connections has become easier. However, the relief is that the process of transferring an old gas connection has been made much easier than before. Companies like Indian Oil Corporation’s Indane, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas now offer online transfer facilities to consumers.

Customers can apply from home using their mobile phones or laptops. Transferring an LPG connection may be necessary in several situations, such as when relocating to another city, having a new address after marriage, transferring the connection to a family member, or after the death of the connection holder.

What documents will be required?

Before applying online, it’s important to have certain necessary documents ready. These include your Aadhaar card, PAN card, new address proof, electricity bill or rent agreement, passport-size photo, and mobile number. If the transfer is being made to a family member, a relationship certificate may also be required. In the case of death, a death certificate will be required. To transfer online, first log in to your gas company’s website or mobile app. Select the “Transfer Connection” or “Change Distributor” option and upload the new address and required documents. After completing the application, a request number will be issued, which can be used to track the status.

How to apply?

Those who cannot complete the online process can also apply offline by visiting their nearest gas agency. Fill out the form provided by the agency and submit the required documents. The transfer process will then begin. This process typically takes 7 to 15 days, although some cases may require extended processing due to local scrutiny or document verification. To avoid rejection, it’s crucial that the name and address are correct and consistent on all documents. KYC and Aadhaar linking may also need to be updated.
