MRM Portal: Big relief for common people. Effective legal steps are being taken to provide quick relief to victims of cyber fraud and return the frozen funds to their bank accounts. In this regard, a new *Money Restoration Module (MRM)* portal has been publicly launched under the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Senior Superintendent of Police, STF, Ajay Singh, provided information, stating that this new, transparent system has been implemented to provide relief to the general public from cyber financial fraud and to ensure the return of their held funds. Under this digital system, victims no longer have to bother traveling to various locations to recover their held funds; they can generate their own refund requests online.
Important eligibility and legal guidelines
Only those cyber victims are eligible to apply on this portal (MRM) who have received a 14-digit Registered Acknowledgement Number by registering an immediate complaint on the NCRP portal or 1930 helpline and in whose case the victim’s money has been ‘held’ (frozen) in the bank accounts of the criminals.

After the victim applies on the portal, the concerned police team will upload the *Indemnity Bond/Notice* on the portal as per the legal provisions under Section 106(3)* of the BNSS, after which the money will be restored directly to the victim’s bank account by the concerned bank.
