Gold-Silver Rate: Gold and silver prices have been fluctuating recently. Gold rates have been rising and falling slightly. Recently, Prime Minister Modi appealed to people not to purchase gold for a year. Following this appeal, the import duty on gold and silver has been increased to 15%. Gold and silver prices have risen across the MCX and domestic markets. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, 24-carat gold with an expiry date of June 5th was being sold for Rs 1.58 lakh per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the price of 1 kilogram of silver is at Rs 2.71 lakh. Silver is still trading at a ₹1.85 lakh discount to its lifetime high.
MCX Gold Rates
Looking at the weekly change in gold prices on MCX, on May 18, gold was recorded at ₹157,737 per 10 grams, while on Friday, May 22—the last trading day of the week—gold closed at ₹158,588 per 10 grams.
Indian Bullion Jewellers Association Gold Rates
According to the Indian Bullion Jewellers Association website, IBJA.com, on May 18—the first day of the week—gold prices stood at ₹157,739 per tola; whereas on Friday, May 22—the final trading day of the week—gold rates were recorded at ₹158,117 per 10 grams.

Silver Price
The price of silver with July 3rd expiry on the Multi Commodity Exchange closed at ₹2,71,600 on Friday, down from ₹2,71,866 per kg on Friday, the last trading day of the previous week.
According to the Indian Bullion Jewellers Association website (IBJA.com), the price of silver closed at ₹2,68,500 per kg on May 15th but fell to ₹2,66,000 on Friday. This means the price of silver has fallen by ₹2,500.
How much has gold become cheaper from its high?
On MCX, gold is currently available at ₹44,396 per 10 grams, down from its high of ₹2,02,984 per 10 grams. Silver is available at ₹1,85,462 per kg cheaper than its high.
Since the MCX and IBJA markets are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, these rates will apply to both days.
