Gold Price Weekly: The country is witnessing ongoing fluctuations in gold and silver prices. Ever since the import duty on gold and silver was increased, gold rates have been on a steady upward trajectory. Over the span of a single week, the price of 24-carat gold has surged by up to ₹2,130. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold has become dearer by up to ₹1,950. In the international market, spot gold remains steady at $4,522.32 per ounce.

Regarding MCX gold rates, on May 18—the first day of the trading week—the price of gold was recorded at ₹157,737 per 10 grams; whereas on Friday, May 22—the final trading day of the week—gold rates closed at ₹158,588 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, according to the Indian Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA), on May 18—the first day of the week—gold prices stood at ₹157,739 per tola; whereas on Friday, May 22—the final trading day of the week—gold rates were recorded at ₹158,117 per 10 grams.

Since the MCX and IBJA markets remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays, these rates will remain applicable for both days.

Currently, investors’ eyes are fixed on the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran. US President Donald Trump has stated that an agreement with Iran has been largely finalised.
