Bank Holiday: Are banks closed today, Saturday, February 21st? Many people are unsure if they will be open since it is a Saturday. Tomorrow marks the third Saturday of February, and typically, banks are open on this day.

In February, banks will close for two days during the last week. Specifically, in Jharkhand, banks will be closed on February 23rd due to the Municipal Corporation General Elections 2026. Additionally, banks will be closed nationwide on February 28th, which is the fourth Saturday. In India, bank branches are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, so there will be no banking services available on that day.

Despite the bank closures, essential customer services will still be available. You can withdraw cash from ATMs, and services like UPI, mobile banking, and internet banking will continue to function. This means that digital transactions will not be impacted.

In India, bank holidays are set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and are outlined under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881. Some holidays are observed nationwide, while others are specific to certain states or local festivals.

March will see more holidays than February, with banks potentially closed for a total of 11 days due to festivals like Holi, Ramadan, Ram Navami, and Mahavir Jayanti. However, the number of holidays may differ by state. Customers are encouraged to complete any necessary banking tasks ahead of time and to check their branch’s holiday schedule to prevent any inconvenience.

These banking services will continue

In addition to special holidays in these states, banks will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, as per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines. Customers are advised to plan their transactions accordingly. While branches will remain closed, digital banking services such as ATMs, mobile apps, UPI, and online banking will remain operational, allowing fund transfers, bill payments, and other routine tasks.

However, services that require a physical branch visit, such as large cash deposits, check clearance, or demand drafts, will not be available on these holidays. Planning ahead and using digital banking tools can help customers avoid last-minute hassles and manage important financial tasks with ease.
