Ration Card Update: There’s some relief for families covered by the National Food Security Scheme (NFSA). Beneficiaries who have been struggling to enroll new members on their ration cards for a long time now have access to an online facility. The department has reactivated its portal to add the names of those excluded members.

According to the District Logistics Office, any family member can now log in to the departmental portal and enter the details of the remaining members. The only requirement is that the applicant’s name must already be registered on the Aadhaar card, as the information will be updated through the Aadhaar API.

Approval Process

If there is a gas connection, it’s also necessary to enter the new member’s LPG ID in the application to ensure accurate beneficiary records. After the application is complete, the names will be added upon approval from the District Logistics Officer, Development Officer, and Executive Officer.

E-KYC Required

After approval, the individual’s e-KYC will be required within 90 days. Failure to do so on time may impact benefits. The department’s goal is to ensure uninterrupted ration and other benefits for eligible families.

Required Documents for Application

Copy of the current ration card

Aadhaar card of the new member

Jan Aadhaar card

Birth certificate for the newborn

Marriage certificate for the newlywed woman

Proof of previous removal from the ration card

Online Application

The form can only be submitted using an OTP sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. If the family is already enrolled in the scheme, ration distribution will begin after the new member’s name is approved. This process typically takes 3-4 days.

With this government initiative, beneficiaries will no longer need to visit e-Mitra centers. All cases will be verified and approved as per the rules. The reactivation of the portal will provide significant convenience to the public, and families can apply on their own.
