Toyota Land Cruiser FJ: If you’re a fan of Toyota’s powerful vehicles, there’s great news for you. Japanese auto giant Toyota is preparing to launch its new and muscular SUV, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, in the Indian market. This SUV is being dubbed the “mini Fortuner” and “baby Land Cruiser” because its look and feel are largely inspired by these iconic vehicles. After its global debut at the Mobility Show in October 2025, it’s poised to become a favorite among off-road enthusiasts in India.
Strong Design
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is built on the same reliable IMV body-on-frame platform that underpins vehicles like the Fortuner, Hilux, and Innova Crysta. This means it’s sure to be unmatched in terms of strength. Design-wise, it’s quite boxy and features classic Land Cruiser styling.
It features wide wheel arches, C-shaped LED lights, and a highly aggressive front grille. The rear-mounted spare wheel gives it a distinct off-roading look. Although slightly shorter than the Fortuner, its 1960 mm ride height gives it a distinct road presence.
Premium Cabin and Modern Features
The Land Cruiser FJ’s interior offers a perfect blend of modernity and comfort. It features a 5-seater layout, ensuring ample space for small families and adventure lovers. Key highlights of the cabin include a massive 12.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster.
You’ll also find Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Toyota’s advanced connected car technology. To make off-roading easier, it features Multi-Terrain Select, Hill Descent Control, and a dedicated dial for 4×4 mode, allowing you to conquer any challenging terrain with ease.
Engine and Powerful Performance
On the performance front, Toyota is expected to offer a 2.7-liter petrol engine capable of generating approximately 163 PS of power and 246 Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. But what’s most exciting is that Toyota may also introduce a hybrid engine option in the future.
The hybrid model will not only benefit the environment but also deliver an impressive fuel economy of 18-20 kmpl, which is excellent for a heavy-duty SUV. Its part-time 4×4 system will ensure it remains stable even on mud, sand, and rocky terrain.
Safety and Price
Toyota has always been known for its safety focus, and the Land Cruiser FJ is expected to feature Toyota Safety Sense (Level-2 ADAS). This will include safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, seven airbags, and a 360-degree camera. Its price in India is expected to be between ₹25 lakh and ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom). This price makes it very attractive for customers looking for a premium off-roader priced above the Mahindra Thar or Jimny and slightly below the Fortuner.
