Tata Motors has further heated the segment by introducing its new 1.5-liter Hyperion turbo-petrol engine first to Sierra and now Tata Safari.

If it comes to the presence and road presence of SUVs, Tata Safari makes a clear edge here. Safari, with a length of 4,668mm, is longer than Hyundai Alcazar, although the MG Hector Plus and XUV 7XO are slightly longer than this.

Safari becomes the largest SUV of this segment in terms of width and height. A width of 1,922mm and a height of 1,795mm give it a strong and muscular look on the road. The Alcazar seems to be the slimest SUV here, while the Hector Plus and XUV 7XO take the path between.

Talking about wheelbase, Safari’s figure is a bit low, but the difference between the four SUVs is not so much that cabin space has a big impact. Large 19-inch wheels are offered in both Safari and XUV 7XO, giving them a more premium look.

The competition becomes more interesting here when it comes to petrol engines. Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus – All three get 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engines. At the same time, the XUV 7XO offers a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, adopting the most different route here.

If you look at the power figures, the XUV 7XO goes to the forefront. Torque of 203hp and 380Nm makes it a performance-focused family SUV. However, not every buyer needs so much strength.

Talking about price, Tata Safari is the most shocked here. Its initial turbo-petrol price is ₹12.89 lakhs, the lowest in this segment. It is close to ₹1.58 lakhs from Alcazar and the entire ₹4.40 lakhs cheaper than Hector Plus.
Safari’s top-spec Accomplished Ultra variant goes up to ₹24.69 lakhs, becoming the most expensive petrol SUV in this segment. Compared to this, the top variants of Hector Plus are the most economical, while Alcazar and XUV 7XO come in between.
