The Honda City, the evergreen car that has ruled the hearts of sedan enthusiasts in the Indian automobile market for decades, is back in its biggest and most modern avatar. The legendary Japanese car manufacturer has launched the New Honda City Facelift with a completely new look to restore the sedan segment’s former glory amid the growing SUV craze.
Compared to the old Honda City, this new model not only offers an aggressive and sporty coupe look that sets the streets on fire, but also boasts several impressive features like ventilated seats and Level-2 ADAS, making it the safest family vehicle in its segment.
Exterior Design

On the visual front, Honda Cars engineers have given this sedan a completely new and vibrant look. While the old model sported a rather sedate and corporate look, the new Honda City Facelift resembles an aggressive racing sports car from the front. Its front profile features a completely new design, a wide honeycomb grille, with attractive LED DRLs integrated directly above it.
The car’s front bumper has been redesigned with a sharp, angular, and sporty splitter, which cuts through the air pressure while driving, giving the car a majestic road presence. Regarding the side profile, the doors and main body lines have been retained from the previous car, but the all-new design of the shiny alloy wheels below the wheel arches enhances its side appearance.
The rear is also quite clever. The taillights now feature a VIP and aggressive smoked effect, a dark finish, which looks elegant and premium at night. The red brake lights of the previous model have been replaced with completely transparent, clear lens lights. Additionally, the rear bumper has been completely redesigned with new reflectors, which help to accurately indicate your car’s location to vehicles approaching from behind during heavy night fog or heavy rain.
Interior and High-Tech Features
The previous Honda City’s market lag was due to its outdated cabin and lack of modern features. However, the Japanese company has addressed this issue with the facelifted model. As soon as you sit inside its luxurious dual-tone cabin, you’re greeted by a large 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay without any wires.
To combat the scorching Indian summer, the front row features excellent ventilated seats with a cooling function, which will instantly soothe the fatigue of long journeys. To navigate narrow streets and tight parking spaces without any scratches, a 360-degree surround-view camera has been added, which provides the driver with a live view of the car’s surroundings on a large screen.
Additionally, the car will continue to feature an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, a wireless smartphone charger, and ambient lighting for a luxurious night drive.
Engine and Performance
While Honda has completely transformed the car’s looks and features, the car’s true heart, its engine, has remained unchanged. The new Honda City facelift will continue to feature India’s most popular and reliable 1.5-liter i-VTEC naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. This iconic engine produces a maximum power of 119 bhp and a robust torque of 145 Nm.
To enhance driving comfort and excitement, the company offers two gearbox options: a 6-speed manual gearbox with short and crisp throws, and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox with paddle shifters for speed enthusiasts.
This means that when you press the accelerator on the highway, you’ll experience the same buttery smooth driving response, and as soon as the needle crosses 4,000 rpm, its iconic V-Tec engine roars, providing a truly thrilling ride.

Safety
Honda has always been a top choice for Indian families when it comes to safety. In the new Honda City facelift, the company has further elevated the safety standards with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADS).
Under this magical safety circle, life-saving technologies like automatic emergency braking (applying brakes automatically in case of an accident), lane keep assist (keeping the car within the white lines), adaptive cruise control and auto high-beam constantly work in the background while driving on the highway.
Apart from this, robust features like 6 airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and tyre pressure monitoring system are standard across all variants, ensuring iron-solid protection for your entire family.
