The new avatar of the company’s best-selling car, the New Maruti Baleno Facelift 2026, was recently spotted for the first time during rigorous testing on Indian roads in a fully camouflaged look.
This hatchback, considered the heart of Nexa showrooms, will not only feature a highly aggressive and sporty ‘new age’ exterior design, but it is also being speculated that Maruti is preparing to win over middle-class families by offering a strong combination of new mileage-friendly technology and advanced safety features.
New Maruti Baleno Facelift

Regarding the exterior, spy shots suggest the upcoming Baleno facelift retains its main body structure and iconic wide stance, as its current look has proven extremely popular with customers. The front of the car will now feature a wider and sleeker front grille, likely featuring a gleaming chrome strip in the center connecting the two headlights.
Additionally, the car will feature bold new LED headlights and a completely redesigned sporty front bumper, giving it a striking and aggressive road presence. The rear profile is expected to feature new pixel-style LED taillights and a reworked rear bumper to enhance safety and visuals at night.
Cabin and Premium Features
The center of the dashboard will feature a larger, 9-inch or larger freestanding touchscreen system that will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. To combat the scorching Indian summer, segment-first ventilated seats with cooling functions for the driver and passenger are expected, making the journey completely fatigue-free.
Additionally, the car is also likely to feature a head-up display, ambient lighting for brightening nighttime travel, automatic climate control, and a major customer demand: a stunning single-pane electric sunroof.
Safety
On the safety front, Maruti Suzuki is currently focusing heavily on strengthening the chassis and safety net of its vehicles. Amidst reports of the Baleno’s impressive performance in the recent Bharat NCAP crash tests, the safety of this new facelift model is being further strengthened.
Since Maruti’s upcoming Frontex facelift has been spotted testing on the roads with a Level-2 ADAS safety unit, auto experts are speculating that Maruti may also offer the same ADAS protection shield in the top-end variants of its premium hatchback, the Baleno.
Additionally, all variants will continue to feature six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, and a 360-degree surround-view camera for easy maneuvering in tight spaces.
Engine & Transmission
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki may replace the existing four-cylinder engine with the state-of-the-art 1.2-liter three-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine from the new Swift. This new engine is known for its excellent fuel efficiency, saving every ounce of petrol. Additionally, to prepare the car for future regulations, the company may add a battery-powered electric motor (Mild/Strong Hybrid System).
This hybrid combination could dramatically increase the car’s mileage to approximately 25 to 28 km/l in heavy bumper-to-bumper city traffic, significantly reducing your monthly fuel consumption by half. For driving convenience, it will be offered with a choice of a 5-speed manual and an economical 5-speed AMT gearbox.
Launch Timeline, Pricing, and Market Competition
Regarding pricing, with the addition of so many advanced features, a new hybrid engine, and potential ADAS technology, the new Baleno facelift is expected to see a slight increase in prices compared to the current model (₹5.99 lakh to ₹9.10 lakh ex-showroom).
According to recent auto news, Maruti Suzuki may launch this new car within a very competitive and budget-friendly range of ₹6.00 lakh to ₹9.50 lakh (estimated ex-showroom). As for its arrival in the Indian market, the car is expected to go on sale at Nexa showrooms across the country later this year, around the festive season in October 2026.
Upon its arrival, this premium hatchback will face fierce competition from its older rivals like the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Hyundai i20 N Line, and Toyota Glanza.
