Mahindra started 2026 in a very aggressive manner. After major launches like XUV7XO and XUV3XO EV, Thar Roxx has now become the center of discussion. Some of the recently revealed teasers and social media hints have increased the eagerness of SUV lovers. The question is simply what Mahindra Thar Roxx is going to get in 2026 a strong special edition or a light facelift.
All-Black Special Edition
Mahindra’s track record is seen, so the company does not back down from bringing unique and limited editions to its popular models. Thar Roxx has also not lagged behind in this. It has previously seen special versions such as Mocha Brown interior, celebrity-specific customization and Earth Edition. Even limited offers like BE 6 Batman Edition show Mahindra’s creative approach.
Now the new teaser has surfaced, it is being guessed that an all-black special edition of Thar Roxx can be introduced. Some elements in the current Stealth Black color still come in metallic finishes, but everything in this new edition can be black-out. Bumpers, alloy wheels, running boards and even the interior can look completely cast in black. This look will make Thar Roxx more rough, tuff and aggressive than ever.

Mild Facelift
Another possibility is that Mahindra is preparing a 2026 facelift for the Thar Roxx instead of a special edition. A few camouflaged Thar Roxx test mules have been spotted on Indian roads in recent months, pointing in this direction.
If a facelift arrives, major design changes should not be expected. But light cosmetic updates, some new tech features and small improvements to the interior can be seen. The most interesting discussion is about a new 1.5-liter diesel engine. If Mahindra adds this engine option, Thar Roxx may be more economical.

Performance and Engine
Thar Roxx is already quite strong in terms of engine if it talks and no major changes are expected. It gets the option of a 2.0-liter turbo petrol and a 2.2-liter diesel engine.

The petrol manual version gives power of 160 hp and torque of 330 Nm, while in automatic the figures increase to 174 hp and 380 Nm. Talking about diesel variants, it generates 172 hp and 400 Nm of strong torque with automatic gearbox.
