Two Premium Hybrid Cars Set to Launch
Kia is preparing to introduce two premium hybrid cars to the market. The first of these vehicles will be the Kia Sorento, which is poised to compete globally with the Hyundai Santa Fe. This large D-segment SUV measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,695 mm in height.
Furthermore, it boasts a wheelbase of 2,815 mm, ensuring ample interior space. Globally, the company offers this model in 5-seater, 6-seater, and 7-seater configurations. In India, it is likely to be launched primarily in the 7-seater version, while the 6-seater version may be offered as an optional alternative.
Packed with Excellent Features
Most automotive manufacturers typically import vehicles in this segment into India either as ‘knock-down kits’ (for local assembly) or as fully built units.
However, the automaker Kia plans to manufacture the Sorento right here in India. This approach could mark a first for this specific segment.
A particularly noteworthy aspect is that the company is also preparing to equip this vehicle with hybrid technology. In global markets, the Sorento Hybrid features an impressive powertrain combination consisting of a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor.
According to reports, the company is also considering offering a 1.5-litre ‘naturally aspirated’ petrol engine option for the Indian market. This could potentially be the same engine currently utilised in other models. Its updated version is currently being used in the Kia Seltos and Kia Carens. The Kia Sorento Hybrid is expected to feature a host of premium and advanced amenities. Special emphasis will be placed on both comfort and safety.
