BYD has introduced a new updated version of its popular electric hatchback Dolphin. The 2026 model features improved design, faster charging, and upgraded safety technology. It was recently introduced as a facelift version in China, and is now being prepared for the global market. However, it may take 12 to 24 months to arrive in right-hand drive markets like Australia. BYD Dolphin EV launch details and expected price
This updated version of the BYD Dolphin could hit the Indian and other international markets by 2026. Its current price in Australia starts at $29, 990, and it may increase slightly in the facelift model. In China, BYD has also introduced its cheaper Essential variant, which could be a more affordable option with some fewer features.
BYD Dolphin EV Design
The look of the 2026 BYD Dolphin has been changed a lot, giving it a modern and clean design.
New front and rear bumper – more simple and classic look.
Build Your Dreams text removed – now only BYD’s LED logo will be available.
New alloy wheel design – 16 and 17-inch options available.
Extra trim around the number plate and rear reflectors removed – making the back of the car look clean and premium.
BYD Dolphin EV Battery, Motor and Charging
BYD Dolphin EV has now become even more powerful. It will get three types of electric motor options:
- Model Power (kW) Torque (Nm)
- Base model 70 kW 180 Nm
- Mid variant 130 kW 290 Nm
- Top variant 150 kW 310 Nm
Along with this, its battery capacity and charging speed have also been increased:
- 45 kWh battery pack – fast charging support up to 80 kW.
- 60.5 kWh battery pack – charging capacity up to 110 kW.
With the help of this new battery technology, Dolphin can now be charged to cover more distance in less time.
BYD Dolphin EV Interior
Many innovative features have been added to the BYD Dolphin 2026 model, which will make the driving experience even better than before.
- 8.8-inch digital instrument display – Earlier it was only 5-inch.
- 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen – Now will come with 5G connectivity.
- New gear shifter – Now shifted to the steering column, making the center console more spacious.
- Smart center console – Now it has new control buttons, which will make it easier to operate the car.
BYD Dolphin Eve Driving Range
BYD Dolphin now comes with better battery efficiency, which has increased its driving range:
- Model Battery Pack Range (CLTC Cycle)
- 70 kW motor 45 kWh 420 km
- 130 kW motor 60.5 kWh 410 km
- 150 kW motor 60.5 kWh 520 km
This time heat pump technology has also been added to Dolphin, which will allow this EV to run with more battery efficiency even in cold areas.
